 It was a relationship between traumatized children from the B.C. Foster Care System and a three year old autistic child named Dustin at a little house on Alfred street in Smithers that would ultimately change the world for autistic children and our understanding of them as our ability to recover them.  Like a chapter out of Lorenzo’s Oil and the endless research work of Augusto Odone, Lorenzo’s father who wouldn’t accept the medical communities disposition that nothing could be done for his son, Dustin’s father Dale would lead the research into his sons debilitating Autism Spectrum Disorder after the medical community wrote his son off as a vegitative autistic youth. To this date the medical communities contrabution to Dustin's recovery from autism has been his dignosis.

 Brain Injury 101 When we speak of autism spectrum disorder it suggest it lies in a spectrum. What creates the spectrum? If we know how the spectrum is created, stands issue can we put it away the theory. |
